The C team finished up in 5th position at the end of the first half of the 2016 season. With the league being quite tightly bunched, it was a respectable effort. To underline this, 167 points was the highest return in three seasons in division 2.
A new recruit was Alex Powles, who came in at one, and has made the main difference. His steady 45% win percentage has helped, but it's also meant that Huw Moores at two has had a very good season (78%), well backed up by Paul Hounsell (78%) and Chris Powell (88%). Ryan Tyler, Jon Bould and Dave Rhys have chipped in here and there; as has Will Bradshaw when stepping up from the E squad.
A special mention in dispatches for Ryan (above) is merited, as he played every game, which takes some doing, what with everyday life and injuries. His win ratio didn't really reflect the quality of his performances, whilst ironically he saved one of his best for the final game in losing 2-3 to Mike Logan of promoted Abergavenny, when seriously under the weather.
The photo above shows Paul Hounsell receiving from Jon Bould, team captain, the 2015-16 C Team Player of the Year award. At the half way stage in the 2016-17 season Paul is in contention to retain the trophy, although Huw and Chris are also contending strongly.
