I’m Richard Murphy and I’m the chairman of the club. I have been playing squash since the age of 18 – a relative late starter to the game in some ways. I have been on the committee for 4 years to date serving as a member then as secretary before accepting the role as chair in 2016. I have been a very passionate activist where sport has been concerned for all of my life and loved playing rugby and football in school and also athletics, tennis and badminton later on. I was chair of the Welsh Masters committee for 4 years prior to taking up the post at Rhiwbina and am keen to help push the club forward and keep the incredible momentum of the club going. I lead on the fourth court project and have seen tremendous advancement in the facilities and numbers of people who have joined to play squash and racketball at “our club”. My remit over my term in the role will be to oversee and help organise future capital and revenue projects which will increase even further the standing which the club holds within squash in Wales. Balanced against that though will always be the opportunity for everyone to rock up to the club and have 40 minutes or so of exercise which makes squash and racketball the great games that they are. I welcome constructive feedback from anyone and even more so if members feel they wish to get involved more in the running of the club. Please contact me if this is something you would like to discuss.
